SOTW 2 History Schedule

Due to schedule and life-type stuff with the families in our own class, we have decided to start doing one SOTW book every TWO years. We were having a really hard time doing all 42 chapters in 52 weeks. I know many individual families have had the same experience. This is why the blog has been so quiet recently. We got half way through half of SOTW 2 and decided to stop for the year. We will be picking it back up in September, starting with a review and doing 3 classes a month instead of one every week, also giving us more time for breaks around holidays. Also, we live in a rural farming area and trying to continue to meet through July was nearly impossible with people's outdoor schedules. Breaking the books up will allow us to finish up the unit by the time public schools are out for the year. Look for the second half of SOTW in September! I will be posting things here and there as my family and I catch up on some missed projects and as I prep for the coming school year. I also have a free lapbook almost ready for download on the Trisagion hymn, for all the Catholic and Orthodox homeschoolers out there....

  1. I totally understand.... it's a lot:) WE took 1.5 years to do the first book and plan to work through the summer to do the second. And I would love some free weeks to review all the great info we've covered!! One reason I LOVE collecting all their materials in the notebook so they can flip through it once in a while;)

Glad everything is OK with you, I was a little worried!

  2. I am relieved to see that I am not alone! We are not part of a co-op, and trying to fit everything in one year was so stressful. We did about 1/3 of the first book and decided to stop for the year. I have a 4 & 7 year old, and want to make sure that he is involved too. Which takes time :-) I plan on using the summer to prepare/accumulate all information so we can complete Book 1 next year. Then, we too will do 1/2 a book a year moving forward.

Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us. Your links, pictures, posts really inspire me!

  3. I am also glad to hear this. I was beginning to think I was just really slow! But there is so much stuff we WANT to do that I hate to not do it.
